Position: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is looking for an inspiring and dynamic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive innovation and progress for the Program for Development of Semiconductor & Manufacturing Ecosystem. The role will be instrumental in shaping the ISM which aims to build a vibrant semiconductor and display ecosystem. The CTO of ISM will be responsible for advising the CEO, ISM, Governing body and the Government on the operational aspects of semiconductor ecosystem including infrastructure, equipment, supply of raw materials, vendor development, logistics, etc. Her vision will lay the foundations for the technology and development roadmap in the critical and strategic field of semiconductors and display manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate a comprehensive long-term strategy for developing sustainable semiconductor, display manufacturing and design ecosystem in the country in consultation with the Government ministries/ departments/ agencies/industry, and academia.
  • Provide adequate support to any organization (domestic or global) wanting to expand their semiconductor, display manufacturing or design operations in India.
  • Enable multi-fold growth of the Indian semiconductor design industry by providing requisite operational support in form of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and foundry support for early-stage startups.
  • Act as a central program manager to drive and execute projects from the CEO's office.
  • Build lasting partnerships with industry players and investors by engaging in confidence building measures.
  • Facilitate the adoption of secure microelectronics and developing a trusted semiconductor & display supply chain including supply of raw materials, vendor development, logistics, specialty chemicals, gases, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Create, align, and drive strategies to meet technology roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Promote strategic investments in R&D and manufacturing.
  • Maintain knowledge of the semiconductor technology marketplace and relationship with research and education institutions, understand best practices, trends and developments, track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics ensuring the organization is in a position to enjoy a competitive advantage.
  • Evaluate the proposals submitted by the applicants with respect to various ISM schemes.
  • Evaluate the disbursement requests raised by the applicants to whom the grant of incentives has been approved.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Proven Operational Leader in the semiconductor (desirable) / electronics industry with 15+ years of experience.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor ecosystem (both commercial and technology side) including manufacturing processes, infrastructure, and raw materials.
  • Ability to address operational challenges of Global & Domestic businesses looking to set-up their design or manufacturing operations in India.
  • Excellent knowledge of the global vendor ecosystem for equipment, raw materials, service & repair, and logistics.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, an effective communicator, and an expert in technological development.
  • Strong networking skills with an ability to identify, engage and build sustainable relationships.
  • Leadership positions (VP or CTO/CSO/COO) held in the semiconductor industry will be preferred.
